Blackpool, all the fun of the seaside at this most English of seaside resorts, one of the largest with miles of sand, miles of hotels and accommodation of all standards, lots of amusements, attractions, restaurants, pubs, clubs, chip shops, ... everything for the happy holiday maker. If you go in winter its windblown, cold, damp, and mostly closed up.
Once the holiday centre of the North, with trains taking the workers to the seaside playground in the summer during the factory annual shutdowns. Now still a popular family resort. Lots to do including 7 miles of beaches, the Blackpool Indoor Bowls Centre, and the Superbowl, a 30-lane computerised ten pin centre. There are two cinemas as well as a muti-screen, brass bands at the bandstands, and boating lakes.
The resort has three piers, the North pier, a refurbished Central Pier with a Big Wheel,and the South Pier that has its own theatre.
Every autumn, early September to early November, there is Blackpool Illuminations when the whole town lights up along five miles. There are famous places here such as Blackpool Tower Ballroom, the scene of dancing for many years, as well as band concerts and shows.
Tourist Information centre in the town. A major shopping area includes Hounds Hill Shopping Centre. To get around try the famous trams, running on 11 miles of track.

Sandcastle Leisure Complex, (opposite the Pleasure Beach). Slides, three pools , children's play area, all under cover.
Louis Tussaud's Waxworks, Central Promenade, exhibits of the famous and the infamous are all here, in wax, visit to the Chamber of Horrors and an Anatomical Exhibition, open daily throughout the year (not Christmas day).
Wintergardens, the town centre entertainment and conference centre on 4.5 acres, with the Opera House theatre, bars, restaurant and the Empress Ballroom .
Blackpool Zoo, East Park Drive, one of the most modern in Europe, open daily from 10.00 a.m. except Christmas Day.
